CHARGING STATION

Design AND commission by BCR-Infinity ArchitectS / St John’s College Cambridge

The charging station is the stealthy xylem which brings electricity to portable communication devices.

Rooted to the concrete floor, the charging station is the constant supplier of energy and power.

Shadows are cast, long and then short, and as people meet, gather and disperse, the charging station remains still, as the hours of the day pass.

It is composed of 4mm steel sheet material forming triangular hollow sections, with an outer skin in satin black abrasion resistant coating.

Featured as a meeting place, it is located at the entrance to the Maurice Wilkes Building in the Innovation Park, Cambridge.
